About Our Role

• Permanent, full-time day work position at Simplot Bathurst
• Monday - Friday day work 0600hrs - 1430hrs  
• Base hourly rate of $48.25 + applicable shift loadings & site allowances, where applicable
• Electrical licence allowance $72.80 per week + tool allowance $23.28 per week
• RDO accruals
• Work with a variety of fixed-plant food processing equipment within a modern, state of the art manufacturing facility

Here at Simplot Bathurst we're seeking applicants for the full-time, permanent position of Maintenance Electrician.  Simplot Bathurst employs over 250 people and having been a part of the local community since 1926, continues to produce Edgell products, as well as products for Birds Eye and Chiko.  An investment of $90 million has recently been completed at the site, transforming Simplot Bathurst into a frozen vegetable centre of excellence, enabling increased production capacity, and ultimately helping to boost local and export volumes.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager (via the Electrical Team Lead), the Maintenance Electrician will perform planned, opportunity and breakdown electrical activities on a wide range of fixed plant and equipment in alignment with the site's Maintenance & Production schedules that support optimisation of plant reliability, improvements related to employee safety, and site continuous improvement activities. 

The Maintenance Electrician will work Monday to Friday daily 0600 - 1430hrs, with shift & leave coverage + weekend OT available.

Working closely with the wider Maintenance (incl. Control Systems / Mechanical / Planning / Stores etc) teams in addition to the Production team - this hands on, technical role will provide electrical expertise to Simplot Bathurst's operations by;
 

• Identifying faults and performing breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipment
• Inspecting, testing and maintaining machinery & equipment in production areas + wider plant buildings & facilities
• Working with PLC and electronically controlled system diagnostics, fault finding, programming and connections
• Performing general plant and building maintenance work
• Undertaking specific project work upon request
• Performing assigned tasks in accordance with all Simplot Safety, Health & Wellbeing + Environmental policies & procedures
• Utilising MEX CMMS to update work orders, search asset history and advise on any maintenance trends or opportunity for improvement and innovation
• Taking part in continuous improvement (CI) activities

About You

• ​​​​​Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace
• Minimum 5 years electrical experience within a manfufacturing / FMCG environment
• Hold a Cert III Electrotechnology (mandatory), with a Cert III Instrumentation and Control being advantageous
• Demonstrated diagnostic, fault finding and troubleshooting skills
• Experience in safety & quality systems and procedures
• Ability to read and interpret schematics
• Sound judgment and decision making ability
• Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills in addition to time management skills
• Intermediate user of CMMS software (noting that Simplot use MEX) + MS Windows OS
• Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
