Data Governance Lead

Summary

The Data Governance Lead will drive data accountability by facilitating data decisions and creating data standards and quality metrics for several core master data domains. The role will partner closely with business stakeholders, IT data teams, and end-users to improve the core data assets needed to support daily operations and strategic programs. The Data Governance Lead will be instrumental in creating and monitoring adherence to the standards, processes, and data quality metrics required by the business stakeholders to govern Simplot's data for the long term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Articulate the data governance mission, strategy, and the value of managing data as an asset
  • Lead the set up of data domain groups formed to make enterprise-wide decisions about data
  • Facilitate a consistent and transparent data decision-making process that brings together business and IT data stakeholders
  • Publish and maintain data governance rules and approvals
  • Draft and gain approval for clear, accurate, and succinct data standards that capture data governance rules and requirements for the data
  • Lead the design of master data authoring processes
  • Provide data governance education and training on core data concepts, practices, standards, and guidelines
  • Propose and gain approval of metrics to monitor data quality against data standards
  • Ensure that the data management strategies are implemented and reflected in data standards and practices
  • Coordinate data cleansing efforts by identifying business requirements and collaborating with business, IT, and Enterprise Data teams to improve data quality
  • Design data quality reporting requirements and collaborate with members of the IT Data teams to implement new data quality reports
  • Communicate the state of data quality with data stakeholders and assist with resolving questions and resulting action items

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4-year college or university
  • Master's Degree (M.A or M.S.) is preferred

Relevant Experience

  • Skilled at facilitation and building consensus among diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to research, write, and verbally communicate about technical topics for a broad audience
  • Track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, planning and managing multiple projects, and delivering measurable results in a fast-paced environment​ 
  • Experience in coordinating data or process improvement initiatives  
  • Demonstrated understanding of data governance concepts 
  • Demonstrated partnering skills with both technical and non-technical partners, including senior leadership
  • Ability to query and profile data to extract insights using SQL
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% during safe travel conditions (may include international travel)
