About Our Role

• ​​​​Casual production based opportunities with Simplot Ulverstone
• Shift based roles - 12.2 hours shifts over 7 day roster incl. weekends
• Base hourly rate $42.18 (incl. 25% casual loading) + shift loadings + OT where available
   

Opportunities exist with Simplot Global Food for suitably experienced Production Operators to join the team at our Ulverstone manufacturing facility.

Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community dating back to 1942, and our location on the banks of the Leven River is ideally situated close to the rich, fertile soils where our potatoes are grown.  We process around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year, producing high quality potato products that are enjoyed by consumers all over Australia.  Site capabilities / products include fries (coated & uncoated + variety of cuts), sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns in addition to 8 x automated packing lines. 

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Production Area Manager - duties may include the following;
 

• Inspection of incoming raw material
• Operate a variety of fixed plant processing equipment within a busy production environment, ensuring line throughput & quality specifications are met 
• Operate high speed packaging equipment
• Cleaning and sanitising of production lines
• Preparation of finished goods for shipment
• Adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety policies and practices
• Work to production plans and targets
• Contribute to site continuous improvement processes
• Liaise with electrical & mechanical maintenance teams re: line maintenance / breakdowns

About You

• Possess a 100% commitment to safety, health & wellbeing in the workplace
• Ability to commit to working 12.2 hour day / night shifts across a 7 day Mon-Sun roster incl. weekends - mandatory
• Possess a suitable level of fitness relative to an operational & active hands-on manufacturing role
• Demonstrated experience within a manufacturing or process related role will be highly regarded
• Possess mechanical aptitude with a high competency in problem solving and the ability to work proactively
• Have strong technical skills and be comfortable working with various software and systems - experience with SCADA systems would be advantageous
• Possess a strong level of both written and verbal communication skills, in addition to time management skills
• Ability to undertake aptitude testing as part of shortlisting process
• Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment, incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening
• Possess valid, unrestricted Australian work rights - Working Holiday Maker  (417 / 462) + Student (500) visa holders are ineligible for these positions
