About Our Role

• Seasonal potato storage / intake opportunities
• Base hourly rate $42.18, incl. 25% casual loading + OT (Saturday double time)
• Ulverstone based
• Mon - Fri expected hours 0700 - 1700hrs (with some expected 1900hrs finish)
• Sat expected hours 0650 -1500hrs
   

Opportunities exist to join Simplot's Raw Procurement team for our 2026 potato intake / storage season, to be based at our Ulverstone frozen potato product manufacturing facility.  Working as part of the busy Raw Intake team, these casual opportunities will commence in early March 2026 with expection completion late June 2026 (completion dates of intake will be weather dependent).  These hands on, active roles will be based outdoors in our storage facilities and will work in varying weather conditions, requiring a good level of physical fitness.

Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community dating back to 1942, and our location on the banks of the Leven River is ideally situated close to the rich, fertile soils where our potatoes are grown.  We process around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year, producing high quality potato products that are enjoyed by consumers all over Australia. 

What You Will Do

Operator duties may include (but are not limited to);

• Actively contribute to site health & safety initiatives
• Assist in marshalling / guiding of loaded truck and trailer / semi-trailer combinations into storage / intake receival areas
• Undertake weighbridge operations / recording of data (electronic & paper based)
• Inspection of incoming raw materials (potato) for quality checks
• Monitoring of intake conveyors for throughput and to rectify any obstructions
• Forklift operations (for licenced and experienced candidates)
• Use of site based radio communications
• Liasion with maintenance staff e.g. Maintenance Fitters & Maintenance Electricians

About You

• Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace
• Hold a C-Class (car) drivers licence
• Have an eye for detail, relative to inspection of incoming raw material
• Experience in working on a potato harvester or other crop harvesting equipment would be advantageous
• Confident in the use of site based radio communications
• Be physically fit with the ability to work on your feet for 10-12 hours per day in a varying environment (with regular breaks), which may include inclement weather
• Possess a strong work ethic with a focus on being a team player and can-do attitude
• Ability to commence early-March and work over a Mon-Sat roster for the duration of the harvest season, with expected completion late June 2026. 
• Possess a current LF Forklift licence (advantageous) with the ability and willingness to work both on and off a forklift
• Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
