About Our Role

• Forklift Operator opportunities within a food manufacturing environment
• Shift based positions (day / afternoon / night)
• Devonport based - commencing ASAP

Simplot are seeking highly motivated candidates for casual opportunities in the role of Production Forklift Operator at our Devonport based food processing facility. Since opening in 1942, our Devonport site has a proud history in the local community. The site processes freshly harvested Tasmanian vegetables including peas, beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts & onions, transforming these into snap frozen products that Australians have enjoyed for generations. The close proximity to our growers ensures our products are processed directly from the paddock.

These factory roles will involve safe operations of electric and gas forklifts across a variety of day / afternoon / night shifts during our Mon-Sun operations, 8 hour shifts.

Day shift 0700 - 1500hrs
Afternoon shift 1500 - 2300hrs
Night shift 2300 - 0700hrs

What You Will Do

• Contribute to, and undertake Simplot safety & continuous improvement initiatives
• Safely transport raw material, WIP & finished goods between factory production areas using a counterbalance LF forklift
• Use of fork mounted RF scanning systems + radio communications
• Operate within cold store / freezer environment stacking bins of frozen finished product within Dexion racking - 7 racks high and 2 bins deep (for those candidates with reach truck experience)
• Perform pre-start checks on forklift and associated equipment
• Changing of & charging spent batteries (for electric forklifts)
• Perform non-forklift Production Operator duties as required
• Adhere to site safety and operational policies whilst contributing to continuous improvement within our processes

About You

• Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace
• Hold valid Australian work rights (noting that 417 / 462 Working Holiday Visa + 485 Temp Grad Visa holders are not eligible for this position)
• A current LF forklift licence and demonstrated operating experience (mandatory)
• Forklift experience within a food processing / manufacturing environment will be highly regarded
• Capacity to work a variety of 8 hour shifts day / afternoon / night across a 7 day roster
• Ability to work to / follow Standard Operating Procedures
• Possess a high attention to detail with a high level of both written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work to production scheduled
• Willingness to undertake aptitude testing & a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening) as part of recruitment processes
