About our role
An opportunity exists for the permanent full-time position of IT Infrastructure Engineer
at our Devonport food manufacturing facility. Simplot Devonport is the last producer of scale of frozen vegetables in Australia and has a proud history in the local community since 1942. We employ over 300 people and process products including peas, beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and onions that are grown by our local Tasmanian growers.
Reporting to the IT Manager (Melbourne based) and forming part of Simplot's global IT team, this role will focus on delivering IT operational excellence and supporting manufacturing requirements at our Devonport site. The successful candidate will contribute to the architecture, engineering and administration of Simplot's Global IT standard operating environments and will install, configure, maintain and integrate system software & hardware components whilst collaborating with the wider IT team to ensure platform capabilities and functionality align with our customer demands.
What you will do
- Facilitate the interactions between control systems and enterprise IT
- Proactive monitoring and metrics of systems and services on a global basis to ensure high availability, and performance for seamless business technology operations
- Performance, availability, health and recoverability of Simplot IT systems
- Collaborating with wider IT teams to ensure platform capabilities and functionality align with our customer demands
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new and emerging technologies to meet Simplot business needs
- Analyse, resolve and perform root cause analysis for serious systems failures that impact the performance or functionality of Simplot systems
- Assist in defining and documenting IT policies, procedures, and standards related to supported systems
- Ensure compliance to IT standards, policies and software licensing
- Ensure the operational health of a mission-critical environment across a global IT infrastructure
- Provide technical consulting and assistance for global IT teams and projects
- Track and report on all team key metrics and maintain factory reporting systems
- Documenting of IT policies, procedures, and standards related to supported systems
- Ensure compliance to IT standards, policies and software licensing
- Ensure the operational health of a mission-critical environment across global IT infrastructure
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate work to improve outcomes and reduce cost
- Install, configure, maintain, and integrate system software and hardware
- Monitor and tune systems to improve performance
- Support site Engineering teams with factory systems maintenance and provide general IT support
- Work with key vendors to engineer and support Simplot IT and business solutions
- Provide general IT support to site users
About you
You will be a dynamic and collaborative individual and ideally hold tertiary qualifications in IT &/or Business related discipline. You are a customer-focused individual who has the ability to present, explain and coach on technical systems, problems and outcomes to a non-technical audience. You will exhibit and provide examples around your exceptional communication skills, your influencing insight, and will have a strong analysis, assessment focus and move beyond traditional ways of doing things with your fresh and innovative approach to ideas and solutions.
- Experience in IT support with strong experience with desktop environments (OS, hardware, network)
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
- High level of both verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with business IT applications
- SQL experience and business data analysis is preferred
- Customer / vendor management
- Knowledge of, and experience in ITIL foundation would be advantageous
- Networking experience is preferred
