About Our Role

• Canteen Cook based at Simplot Devonport's on-site canteen / cafeteria
• Permanent part-time position
• 30 hours per fortnight (5 shifts per fortnight, 6 hours per shift) within Monday-Friday
• Immediate start
• Base rate of $30.98 p/h

Simplot Global Food are seeking applicants for a Canteen Cook to be based at our Devonport frozen vegetable processing facility. Simplot Devonport has proudly supported the local community since opening in 1942 and has employed generations of Tasmanians.

This role involves preparing rotating weekly set menus and providing site catering for employees and internal events. You will often work independently and play a key role in maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness and customer service.

0700 - 1330hrs (incl. a 30-minute unpaid lunch break) - Days of work to be agreed with the successful applicant

What You Will Do

• Morning setup and cooking of breakfast
• Cooking and food preparation for daily service
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and canteen areas
• Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
• Monitor, restock and maintain drink fridges and confectionery stock
• Provide catering for internal functions and events as required
• Follow the canteen food safety management plan
• Serve meals in a friendly, efficient and professional manner
• Operate cash register and EFTPOS facilities
• Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene practices
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the canteen
• Comply with all Safety, Health and Wellbeing policies and procedures

About You

• 100% commitment to safety, health and wellbeing in the workplace
• Passion for preparing quality meals - experience in a canteen or cafe environment would be advantageous
• Excellent customer service skills
• Sound numerical skills with confidence using a cash register and EFTPOS terminal
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently when required
• Able to undertake a pre-employment medical (incl. urine-based drug & alcohol screening)
• Hold a Food Safety Certificate or is willing to obtain one
