Maintenance Technician - Don Plant (Pocatello, ID)

Summary
A successful candidate will be hired as a Maintenance Technician and will be expected to successfully complete an internal Maintenance Training Program to become a Class A or Multi-Skilled Technician. The program consists of hands-on training and familiarization with plant procedures, processes, and safety protocols. The duration of the training program is dependent on prior experience, but in no case will exceed 24 months.
Successful Technicians must be versatile and flexible. Regular job duties can include but are not limited to demolition, construction, fabrication, precision alignment, industrial equipment installation, mechanical rebuilds, inspection, rigging and lifting, troubleshooting, and problem solving. Technicians should regularly expect to work in an outdoor environment at all times of the year. Technicians typically work in pairs and should be able to cooperate with other team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all safety and operating procedures
- Perform all types of maintenance including precision and preventative maintenance tasks
- Dismantle, adjust, and repair equipment according to company or manufacturer specifications
- Assist technical personnel in writing procedures and specifications for precision maintenance
- Participate as part of a team or independently in identifying and solving problems
- Manage work time effectively and respond to maintenance requests
- Maintaining work areas with best housekeeping practices
Typical Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Post-secondary education/certification - preferred
Relevant Experience
- 3+ years related experience and/or training
- Strong mechanical aptitude or proven hands-on experience
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, shaft alignment and millwright skills is preferred
- Be able to lift/move heavy equipment, climb multiple sets of ladders/stairs, and work at heights
- Able to read and understand procedure documents, drawing and process diagrams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to organize and plan
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
