Summary
This position exists to ensure efficient operation of all industrial mechanical equipment for the facility. Including mechanical maintenance, lubrication, sanitation, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment within processing and packaging and various other plant equipment on site. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the industrial mechanical equipment throughout the facility and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that equipment including, but not limited to pumps, motors, hydraulic systems and product transport systems are properly lubricated following the specifications of the Company or the manufacturer.
- Ensure oil inventories and oil storage areas are clean and in good working order.
- Perform oil analysis on identified equipment assigned to include capturing, sending off to lab and proper corrective action with results.
- Troubleshoot and make minor and major repairs of equipment at the Water Recovery Plant to prevent or minimize industrial plant downtime.
- Troubleshoot and make minor and major repairs of processing and cutting equipment in order to prevent or minimize industrial plant downtime.
- Wire feed and stick welding on stainless steel, black iron, aluminum and other types of metals for repair and fabrication as required.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment throughout the Water Recovery Plant including, but not limited to pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, hydraulic systems, coupler and alignment systems.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment throughout the packaging and processing areas including, but not limited to pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, hydraulic systems, coupler and alignment systems.
- Perform a variety of skilled duties to include but not limited to the following: painting, carpentry, cement masonry, plumbing, dry wall and/or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining and reporting Simplot owned and operated building and facilities.
- Assist in setting up mechanical and hydro cutting systems for production runs and is responsible for the maintenance of high-speed cutter heads, the dicing cutter system and any other cutting equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment in their work area(s).
- a) Maintains all shop inventories, tools and equipment. Creates, performs and completes work orders in the system as assigned or as needed and prepares kitting when necessary.
- b) Coordinates or schedules additional work as needed.
- c) Identifies parts needed for work to be done, conducts inventory searches and locates parts.
- d) Documents, monitors, maintains, and assists with reporting of shift events, logging Predictive Maintenance data and assists with work planning utilizing information systems and productivity software.
- Maintains Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
- a) Works within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.
- b) Ensures proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of all processing equipment and tools.
- Maintains necessary level of communication with team members and other support groups and does so in a participative management style conducive to operational goals.
- Ensure that additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.
- Will assist in training other plant personnel.
Typical Education
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years of industrial or food processing mechanical experience required. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Associate degree or technical certification is preferred.
- Must demonstrate qualification through a hands-on job skill evaluation.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid equipment operator’s license with a Lift Truck and platform within 30 days of starting the bid.
- Able to perform sound welds in accordance with the qualifications required by applicable welding code, standards, and/or project specifications include wire feed, stick, Heliarc, Oxy-Acetylene and sanitary (food-safe) welds for repair and fabrication required.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must provide required tools (see tools list).
