Summary
This job exists to ensure product quality and production levels are achieved and sustained for the packaging equipment on the assigned line(s). This includes providing electronic and mechanical maintenance, operation, sanitation, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment in the Packaging Area from the distribution system to the LGVs. This position may also assist with the operation, electronic and mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of other equipment throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
- Provides troubleshooting, repair and support on the equipment, instrumentation systems and supporting equipment including most mechanical, some electrical and some electronic aspects.
- Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs. This includes operating equipment to verify operational efficiency.
- Must be able to drive a forklift and assist with tote management as needed.
- Utilizes computer and computer programs to communicate, document, and track shift information and ensures that all documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
- Operates and monitors equipment within the assigned Zone, including, but not limited to, the distribution system, scales, baggers, seal detection, inspection equipment (metal detectors, X-rays and bag/case weighers), case packers, case erectors, case settler/sealer, glue distribution system, tapers, coders/ labelers, flap detectors.
- Operates and monitors equipment in the Packaging Area including, but not limited to, distribution system, decline conveyor, metal detectors, x-rays, tray formers, case erectors, check-weighers, film shrink wrapper.
- Performs required quality checks and sampling (bag/case weights, audit check-weighers, metal detector, X-ray, packaging workmanship, etc.) and ensures that they are conducted in compliance with established procedures and specifications.
- Ensures that metal detector checks and all other required checks (x-ray, bag weights, bag/case integrity, etc.) are conducted and recorded in the appropriate location in a timely manner.
