About our Role

This is a great opportunity to join us as a Senior Payroll Officer on a 12-month fixed term contract, supporting a business that plays a vital role in feeding millions of Australians. In this role, you’ll be part of a high-performing payroll team that values accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Your work will directly impact the employee experience, ensuring our people are paid correctly and on time, in line with complex award and legislative requirements.

 

Reporting to the Payroll Team Leader, the role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes using integrated systems and tools. It involves interpreting EBAs and awards, maintaining data integrity, and working closely with a range of internal teams and external partners to support operational excellence and continuous improvement across payroll services.

What you will do

As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services across our workforce. Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Support end-to-end payroll processing for approximately 1,000 employees, including onboarding, offboarding, leave management, and data maintenance across HRIS, timekeeping, and payroll systems
  • Interpret and apply EBAs, awards, and salary packaging arrangements, ensuring compliance for both hourly and salaried employees
  • Prepare and review payroll calculations, including leave, terminations, deductions, back payments, and taxation, while ensuring alignment with legislative requirements
  • Respond to payroll queries and support stakeholders, maintaining confidentiality and fostering strong working relationships across the business
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including payroll vendors and government agencies, to ensure smooth operations and compliance
  • Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements, participating in team initiatives that drive efficiency and accuracy

About you

You’re a payroll professional with a strong foundation in end-to-end processing and a commitment to accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll thrive in a collaborative team and contribute confidently to a high-performing payroll function.

We’re looking for someone with:

 

    • 3 - 5 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing, including weekly and monthly cycles
    • Project coordination experience, ideally with exposure to systems such as ADP GlobalView, SuccessFactors, UKG Dimensions, and/or Dayforce Preceda
    • Sound understanding of EBAs, modern awards, and Australian payroll legislation, with experience applying these in practice
    • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proactive approach to resolving issues and building trusted relationships
    • High attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex calculations, reconciliations, and compliance requirements
    • Experience contributing to payroll projects and continuous improvement initiatives, including collaboration with external vendors
    • Organised and adaptable, with the ability to prioritise tasks and translate payroll processes into system requirements
