About Our Role

14-month Fixed-term Contract | Mentone, VIC | Hybrid Working

Join Simplot's Food Safety & Quality team as a QA Technologist, where you'll help ensure we continue delivering Safe Quality Food Every Day while supporting the successful launch of new and innovative products across our iconic brands.

Working closely with Product Development, Procurement, Commercial, Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory teams, you'll assess food safety risks, provide technical guidance and play an important role in bringing safe, compliant, high-quality products to market.

This role offers broad exposure across food safety, quality, regulatory and innovation activities, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their technical expertise while working on a wide variety of products and projects.

What You'll Do

You'll partner with cross-functional teams to ensure new products are safe, compliant and ready for market across a diverse product portfolio.

In this role, you will:

• Assess food safety risks across new products and ensure appropriate controls are implemented
• Evaluate microbiological, allergen, chemical and physical risks, ensuring products are appropriately labelled
• Support quality and food safety investigations, incident management and technical problem solving
• Support the delivery of new products by ensuring import, export and regulatory requirements are met
• Ensure products meet regulatory requirements and escalate issues where required
• Champion Simplot's VACCP program, ensuring its ongoing effectiveness and continuous improvement
• Manage import permit applications for new products
• Develop, review and improve associated food safety and quality procedures

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll enjoy working in a dynamic environment, be naturally curious and thrive on solving complex problems while collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders.

You'll bring:

• A tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline
• A minimum of 3 years' experience within a Quality or Food Safety team
• Strong hands-on experience with HACCP and VACCP
• Experience assessing risks associated with new products and processes
• Practical exposure to manufacturing environments, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively
• Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence and build relationships across cross-functional teams and external suppliers
• A proactive and organised approach, with the confidence to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• A pragmatic, detail-oriented approach, with confidence working across specifications, systems and documentation
• Experience with DAFF requirements and import permits is advantageous, but not essential
