About Our Role
As a Materials Planner, you will be responsible for providing medium to long‑term forecasts of material requirements to suppliers, while identifying and managing potential risks to meeting internal supply needs.
This role acts as a key interface between site‑based vendor schedulers, suppliers and the procurement team, supporting the planned supply of strategic raw and packaging materials into our manufacturing sites. Through forward‑looking analysis, you will identify future material and capacity risks and ensure these are escalated and resolved in collaboration with suppliers and relevant supply planners.
What You Will Do
Your focus will be on medium‑ to long‑term materials planning to support manufacturing demand and minimise supply disruption. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and maintain medium‑ to long‑term material requirements across all suppliers, managing exceptions and escalating risks to support finished goods and work‑in‑progress plans.
- Maintain planning parameters, safety stock settings, tools and processes to ensure accurate requirement plans and support inventory optimisation.
- Identify and manage supply, capacity, inventory and material ageing risks across raw materials, packaging and WIP, escalating through the Integrated Business Planning cycle.
- Partner closely with Procurement on supplier capability, delivery performance, contract coverage and business continuity planning for key or constrained suppliers.
- Lead monthly planning reviews with key strategic suppliers, assessing performance and future capability, and feeding insights and risks into supply review and escalation forums.
- Support continuous improvement by contributing to the development and refinement of materials and supply planning tools, processes and ways of working.
About You
- Experience in materials planning or scheduling, ideally in an FMCG environment.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, particularly MRP and material requirements.
- Highly analytical, with strong attention to detail and confidence working with planning data and system outputs.
- Advanced Excel capability, with exposure to ERP or planning systems (e.g. PRMS, JDE or similar).
- Proactive and forward‑thinking, able to identify supply risks early and escalate appropriately.
- Comfortable influencing and collaborating across planning, procurement, site teams and suppliers.
- Curious and improvement‑focused, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
