About our role

The Finance Business Partner – Category is a key strategic role responsible for shaping, influencing, and executing the commercial strategy across major market leading product categories. Working closely with Category Directors, this role will support managing the end to end category P&Ls, commercial insight, and strategic challenge to drive improved profitability and long term value creation.

You will lead and support high impact initiatives including long range financial modelling, scenario analysis, and development of major capital investment business cases. The role also plays an important part in influencing the APAC Commercial leadership team through clear, insightful, and strategically aligned financial recommendations. Simplot’s vertically integrated business model, from farm through to major retail customers such as Coles and Woolworths, offers unique commercial exposure and the opportunity to influence decisions across the entire value chain.

What you will do

• Partner directly with Category Directors to manage the full P&L, drive commercial priorities, and influence strategic decision making.
• Lead development of long range financial models, ambition planning, and scenario analysis to support category strategy and profitability improvement.
• Evaluate large scale capital investment business cases, including post implementation reviews, with clear articulation of assumptions, risks, and financial outcomes.
• Build deep, trusted relationships across the organisation—particularly with Finance teams in Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, Category, Revenue Growth Management, and Commercial Finance.
• This requires a strong “enterprise mindset,” proactively leveraging cross functional expertise and resources to drive outcomes.
• Deliver compelling, executive ready presentations, distilling complex data into clear insights that influence senior leaders across APAC.
• Champion continuous improvement, challenging the status quo and enhancing financial processes, modelling, reporting, and decision support capability.

About you

You bring a highly strategic, commercial, and analytical mindset, with strong curiosity and a proactive approach to finding opportunities and solving problems. You also bring:

• Strong financial modelling capability (Excel/Power BI) with the ability to transform and interpret complex data.
• A hypothesis led approach to problem solving and structured thinking.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including high impact PowerPoint storytelling and executive level presence.
• The confidence to challenge, influence, and partner with Director level stakeholders as a trusted advisor.
• Resilience and composure under pressure, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and diverse stakeholder personalities.
• Independence and initiative, with a proactive, self starting approach to identifying opportunities and driving work forward.
• A continuous improvement mindset, always seeking better ways of working, lifting capability, and improving performance.
