About Our Role
We currently have an opportunity for a passionate and detail-oriented Customer Activation Specialist to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity, based at our Chifley Office. Reporting into our Senior Manager, Customer and Channel Marketing, this role plays a pivotal part in Simplot’s channel and customer marketing plans across key brands within our Independent Retail business. You will be responsible for coordinating the total Independent customer marketing calendar and designing bespoke path-to-purchase activation plans for both Metcash National and individual multi-site operators (MSOs). A strong understanding of New Product Innovation (NPI) will be essential, as this will contribute significantly to channel growth.
This role will manage the Independents activation budget and calendar, developed annually as part of the financial planning process. Building and optimising strategic partnerships with customer media partners (e.g. Local Eyes) will be key to ensuring maximum ROI from our activation investments. Collaboration across sales and marketing teams is critical, with alignment to Category Commercial Operating Plans (COP) to deliver on our 3-year Joint Business Plans (JBPs). This role also supports execution at industry trade shows and expos, with a particular focus on the National Metcash Expo in Queensland.
What You Will Do
- Develop marketing activation plans (including digital) that enhance the customer and consumer experience of our brands
- Build a tailored 3-year activation calendar for each channel/customer, aligning COP big bets, key seasonal moments, customer events, and NPI launches
- Design and execute 360-degree campaigns for all ‘gold’ big bets, aligned to our shopper path to purchase framework, across both physical and digital channels
- Contribute to achieving a top third Advantage Group score for customer activation, including online
- Deliver market innovation through our path to purchase process and third-party partnerships, while meeting agreed financial uplifts for each activation
- Execute optimal activation plans for NPI launches based on strategic priority, supported by post campaign reviews (PCRs) to drive future ROI
- Create, plan and execute selected trade shows to a 5-star level, with a key focus on the National Metcash Expo, ensuring Simplot brand presence aligns with new global guidelines
- Complete fortnightly trade visits, feeding back market intelligence to the wider Marketing team, and maintain an up-to-date Career & Development Plan on My Simplot
- Represent Activation in monthly SMAP meetings, ensure alignment of activation calendars with customer expectations, and maintain accurate management of the Activation Calendar and Budget Tracker
About You
- FMCG industry experience preferred but not essential
- Experience working in the field, with exposure to store level activations and retailer environments
- Background knowledge that supports realistic and executable field activation plans
- Ability to build strong partnerships and collaborate effectively to achieve shared goals
- Comfortable working in dynamic and uncertain environments
- Realistic understanding of what is achievable in market execution
- Strong customer focus and ability to deliver customer-centric solutions
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate future opportunities into actionable plans
