About Our Role
Simplot are seeking highly motivated candidates for multiple casual opportunities in the role of Production Operator at our Bathurst based food processing facility. Simplot Bathurst is referred to as “The Home of Edgell”, being the original birthplace of the well-loved Australian brand. The site first began canning production in 1926 under Gordon Edgell, producing a vast array of products under this brand. Nowadays, the vegetable and snacking processing plant, which employs over 150 people, continues to produce Edgell products, as well as products for Birds Eye and Chiko.
Commencing immediately, these critical roles will involve safe operations of fixed plant processing equipment and forklifts across a variety of day / afternoon / night shifts during our Mon-Sun operations, 8 hour shifts. Candidates who possess prior food processing, packing or harvest experience are encouraged to apply.
Ordinary rates of $37.93 p/h (incl. of 25% casual loading) + shift loading & penalties.

What You Will Do
Working to process a variety of vegetables & snack lines incl. broccoli, cauliflower, corn - duties will include (but are not limited to);
- Safely operate a variety of fixed plant process & packing equipment within a busy production environment incl. monitoring of system processes & information / adjusting system settings to ensure quality of product is maintained to the defined standard
- Adhere to GMP and food safety practices
- Grading / sorting / quality inspection / foreign object removal
- Contribute to continual improvement processes in conjunction with peers, Team Leaders and Area Managers
Production Operator roles that includes fork duties but not limited to;
- Safely transport product between our production areas and cold stores
- Use of fork mounted RF systems + radio communications
- Operate within our cold store
- Perform pre-start checks on forklift equipment
- Work within a factory environment that has varying temperatures / noise levels (PPE provided)
About You
- Possess a 100% commitment to safety in the workplace
- Ability to work across a variety of 8 hour shifts (day / afternoon / night)
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures
- Demonstrated experience within a manufacturing, process or mechanical related role - FMCG experience will be adventagous
- Have a high standard of mechanical & problem solving aptitude
- Possess a high attention to detail
- Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills, in addition to time management skills and the ability to work to production schedules
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Possess positive communication skills
- A current LF forklift licence and demonstrated operating experience (mandatory for applicants to be considered for a Production Operator role that include fork duties)
- Ability to undertake in-house aptitude testing as part of the recruitment process
- Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
