Feedlot Facilities Maintenance (Grand View, ID)

Summary

Provides the day to day maintenance of the feedlot facilities to promote the effective and efficient use of the feedlot resources. Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery, physical structures, and water/sprinkler systems in the feedlot by performing the following duties. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Detects malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structures of the feedlot to include fences, gates, buildings, water troughs, or plumbing systems.
  • Maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Daily maintenance and repairs to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the feedlot. Assists with construction projects as directed. 
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in welding, construction, or maintenance preferred.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. 
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.

  • Work may be performed in pens with animals present.
