Summary
The Storage Operator is responsible for loading, unloading trucks and railcars with various materials. This individual, monitors processes, systems, tools, and equipment to ensure safe practices at all times.Oversees the intake and storage of raw materials used in production processes. Responsibilities may include receiving deliveries, inspecting materials for quality and quantity, documenting inventory levels, and ensuring proper storage conditions to maintain freshness and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving Materials: Unload and receive raw material shipments, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
Inspection and Quality Control: Inspect incoming materials for quality, quantity, and compliance with company standards. Report any discrepancies or damages.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, receipts, and material movement using inventory management systems.
Storage and Organization: Ensure proper storage of materials according to company guidelines to maintain quality and prevent contamination or damage.
Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, food safety regulations, and company policies while handling and storing raw materials.
Communication and Coordination: Collaborate with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate material availability.
Inventory Management: Assist with inventory counts, reconciliation, and ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO practices).
Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as required.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in receiving and storage operations.

Relevant Experience
2.5+ years related experience and/or training.
Experience in receiving, warehousing, or inventory management (experience in food production is a plus). Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment (certification preferred). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory management systems. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying warehouse conditions (cold, heat, etc.). |
Other Information
Knowledge of the tools and operating equipment used in plant; Mechanical aptitude.
Skills: May be required to operate a pay loader and/or other motorized equipment as needed; Abilities: Ability to identify and understand chemical processes and intermediate math skills preferred. Ability to communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to approach others in a tactful manner, react well under pressure, and be accurate and thorough.
May be required to work overtime, 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and/or varying shifts.
Physical Requirements: This job requires the ability to work rotating shifts in excess of eight hours per day to include weekends and off-duty hours to reach operational goals and compliance requirements in a plant that operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. This individual must have the ability to operate a front-end loader, forklift, and/or other motorized equipment. Job duties may require the ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, bend, stoop, reach, lift, grip, push, pull, move and/or carry equipment which may be in excess of 50 pounds. In order to perform the duties of this job, the incumbent may be required to walk in excess of 500 yards to reach equipment/areas across the facility.
