Operations Support 1 (Shop Mechanic) - Firebaugh, CA

Summary

Under general direction, performs mechanical work on a wide variety of trucks, trailers, and farm equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Under limited supervision, work with the Operations team to support the daily operations of a busy agricultural shop.
• Performs varied responsibilities such as: equipment and plant maintenance including welding, pump and engine overhauls, painting, and general housekeeping responsibilities.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on trucks,tractors, andassorted farm equipment.
• In charge of all 90- Day BIT inspections
• Operate farm equipment as needed.
• Servicing equipment including wheel bearings, brakes, lights, etc.
• Be able to read and write work orders.
• Monitoring product application by calculating amounts, calibrating equipment, controlling applicationrates, and cleaning and storing equipment after application process.
• Miscellaneous duties such as assisting with special projects, attending training sessions, providingback-up when needed, etc.

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

Skills & Relevant Experience

• 1+ years related experience and/or training
• Mechanical experience
• Welding experience
• Experience with farm machinery
• Knowledge of basic farm equipment and operation
• Knowledge of fertilizer barns or grain elevator operation machinery is a plus
• Ability to effectively and safely operate heavy equipment such as a loader, forklift and semi-truck
• Ability to do a variety of tasks in succession, i.e., receiving customer orders from a coordinator, blending products together, loading a truck, verifying accurate weights
• Ability to perform basic math  
• Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook – or mobile app
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with management, other team members, and customers

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License
• Must be able to perform CA BIT Inspections
• Must be willing and able to work Ag-Industry hours – overtime in peak season as required 
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
