Food Technologist, Tech Center- Caldwell, ID

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient administrative support technologist to join our Research & Development team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of food science, technical documentation, and project coordination. In this role, you will provide critical support to the R&D department by managing technical documentation, assisting with product development projects, and ensuring smooth operations across cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain product formulations within the Product Data Management (PDM) system
• Manage and document the preparation development and validation information
• Manage the database of product development reports, procedures, training tools and materials
• Work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, operations, quality assurance, engineering, purchasing, packaging, food safety and regulatory to ensure effective communication and coordination
• Maintain records for R&D Tax concession claim.
• Provide assistance to Food Technologists and other colleagues as required.
• Perform product development activities such as developing new food products with the intent to commercialize
• Communication and escalation of project progress/issues to sponsors & other stakeholders eg. Product and process risks, project milestones, road blocks.
• Understand the requirements of internal stake holders in their support of customer and consumer needs and align priorities and actions to Simplot delivery of those customers needs.
• Complete accurate and timely information for Stage gate documentation.

Typical Education

• Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university or minimum 10 years experience in a R&D setting

Other Information

• Product Development experience with proven results in the food industry is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop cross-functional relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
• Some experience with project management software and document management systems is highly regarded.
• Some experience in managing multiple projects, demonstrating sound project management skills.
• Experience in Stage Gate product innovation process is highly regarded.
• Sound technical understanding and capability
• Knowledge of Food Standard Code and Food Safety Legislation
• Some knowledge of R&D tax concession law
• Demonstrated report writing skills
• Ability to make effective decisions in a timely manner
