Are you someone who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, working with your hands, and keeping operations running at their best? As a Millwright at Simplot Western Stockmen's, you'll play a critical role in maintaining and repairing equipment, facilities, and grounds to ensure our feed mill operates safely, efficiently, and reliably every day. 

 

This position offers a variety of work, from equipment repair and preventive maintenance to fabrication projects and facility improvements. Whether you're an experienced millwright, maintenance technician, mechanic, or someone with strong mechanical aptitude looking to grow your skills, we'd love to hear from you. 

Schedule

Day Shift | Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 

Enjoy a consistent three-day workweek on a day shift schedule. This position is regularly scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, providing additional days off during the week while still offering full opportunities to contribute to the team and operations. 

What You'll Do

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mill equipment and facility systems.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications as needed.
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain augers, rollers, conveyors, grain handling equipment, and other mill machinery.
  • Support facility and grounds maintenance to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and operations team to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintenance standards.
  • Assist with other maintenance and operational projects as needed. 

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous maintenance, millwright, mechanical, agricultural equipment, industrial maintenance, fabrication, or related experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of augers, rollers, conveyors, grain handling systems, or feed mill operations is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to maintain driving privileges. 

Skills for Success

  • Ability to read and follow safety guidelines, maintenance manuals, and operating procedures.
  • Basic computer, recordkeeping, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving measurements, fractions, and decimals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize maintenance tasks and respond to equipment issues efficiently. 

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands to operate tools and equipment.
  • Climbing ladders, stairs, platforms, and working at varying heights.
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, and working in confined spaces as needed.
  • Regularly lifting and moving materials and equipment up to 100 pounds, with occasional lifting of heavier items.
  • Working safely around moving machinery and industrial equipment.

Work Environment

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor work.
  • Exposure to changing weather conditions.
  • Work around mechanical equipment, moving parts, dust, grain particles, and industrial noise.
