Summary

Supports the daily operations of the feedlot by performing a variety of handson tasks that help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment for livestock and team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pen & Facility Cleaning — Cleans pens, scales, feed bunks, water tank drains, and water troughs to maintain healthy, sanitary feeding areas. 
  • General Maintenance — Performs routine repairs and basic maintenance throughout the feedlot to keep equipment and facilities in good working condition.
  • Water Truck Operation — Occasionally drives the water truck to provide water for livestock and help control dust in designated areas.
  • Team Support — Assists with additional tasks as directed by the supervisor to support overall feedlot operations.
  • Other Duties — Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs.

Education, Experience, and Key Skills & Abilities

  • Education — High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • General Labor Experience — Experience in outdoor, physical, or handson work (construction, farming, ranching, maintenance, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Equipment Operation — Familiarity with tractors, skid steers, or similar equipment is a plus. Training is available for candidates eager to learn.
  • Maintenance Skills — Basic mechanical or repair abilities are helpful for routine maintenance tasks.
  • Teamwork & Reliability — Strong work ethic, dependability, and the ability to work effectively in a teamfocused environment. 

Language Skills

  • Reading & Understanding Instructions — Able to read and understand basic instructions, short written communications, and simple memos. 

  • Basic Writing — Able to write simple, clear correspondence when needed. 

  • Verbal Communication — Able to communicate information effectively in oneonone situations. 

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic Math — Able to add and subtract twodigit numbers and multiply or divide using tens and hundreds. 

  • Practical Measurements — Able to work with basic units of U.S. currency, weight, volume, and distance. 

Reasoning Ability

  • Following Instructions — Able to apply commonsense understanding to follow written or verbal instructions that are detailed but straightforward. 

  • ProblemSolving — Able to handle routine problems involving a small number of concrete variables in standardized situations.
