Summary

The Senior Director, Global Health & Safety at Simplot is a senior enterprise leader responsible for defining and advancing a world‑class health and safety vision across all global operations. This role provides strategic oversight to ensure regulatory compliance while championing a proactive, high‑engagement safety culture that protects people, strengthens operational performance, and supports long‑term business sustainability.

 

The Senior Director leads the design and execution of comprehensive safety programs across diverse environments including farms and ranches, mining, manufacturing, remote sales, and office settings—driving continuous improvement through strong governance, data‑driven insights, and leadership engagement at every level of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance

  • Establish and maintain enterprise‑wide compliance with global health and safety regulations across all operations, including farms and ranches, mining, manufacturing, remote sales, and office environments.
  • Serve as the senior subject‑matter authority for OSHA (manufacturing) and MSHA (mining) regulatory requirements.
  • Anticipate evolving global regulatory landscapes and operational complexity, advising leadership on risk, impact, and readiness across geographies.

 

Safety Programs

  • Develop, implement, and oversee enterprise safety programs aligned to the risk profiles and operational needs of each business segment.
  • Lead a disciplined audit and assurance framework to identify risk, strengthen controls, and safeguard employees, assets, and business continuity.

 

Safety Culture & Leadership

  • Champion a consistent, enterprise‑wide culture of safety through leadership engagement, clear expectations, and effective communication.
  • Build and sustain safety leadership capability, reinforcing accountability and ownership for safety outcomes across all levels of the organization.
  • Advance proactive safety systems that leverage workforce engagement and data to drive prevention‑focused behaviors.

 

Investigations & Learning

  • Oversee incident investigations and root cause analysis processes to ensure effective corrective actions and systemic improvement.
  • Establish clear enterprise communication practices to share incidents, insights, and learnings, reducing risk and preventing recurrence.

 

Performance, Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide executive oversight of global safety performance metrics, trends, and key risk indicators.
  • Translate complex safety data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership decision‑making.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts targeted at achieving and sustaining world‑class health and safety performance.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering (Mining, Industrial, Mechanical), or Environmental Science
  • Master’s degree in Safety Management or a related field is highly preferred

Required Certifications

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Relevant Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in health and safety roles supporting multi‑region or global operations within complex environments.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating varying regulatory frameworks, cultural norms, and risk profiles across multiple geographies, with the ability to scale consistent safety standards globally.
  • Proven track record partnering with regional and functional leaders to deliver enterprise‑level safety outcomes while respecting local operational realities.
 

Additional Qualifications

  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to align diverse global teams around a shared safety vision.
  • Proven success leading mission‑critical safety programs across varied operational settings.
  • Strong executive presence with demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior leadership to shape enterprise strategy, culture, and outcomes.
