Summary

The Senior Business Partnering Analyst – Compensation Planning & Modeling serves as a strategic finance partner to AgriBusiness leadership, Operations, and Human Resources, with a primary focus on compensation planning, incentive plan financial modeling and evaluation. This role provides advanced analytical support for short‑ and long‑term compensation programs, assesses financial and operational impacts, and ensures compensation plans are financially sustainable, aligned with business strategy, and executed with appropriate governance.

The role requires deep expertise in compensation modeling, plan administration, forecasting, and advanced financial systems. The incumbent builds, maintains and enhances complex compensation models to evaluate and support approved compensation plan designs; supports annual and off‑cycle compensation events; manages compensation schedules and acknowledgements; and provides decision support through scenario and sensitivity modeling. This role does not own compensation plan design but serves as the financial subject‑matter expert responsible for feasibility assessment, modeling, and execution support of approved plans.

Key Responsibilities

Compensation Planning & Analysis

  • Lead financial analysis and modeling support for annual and off‑cycle compensation planning cycles, including commissions, merit, incentive, bonus, and long‑term compensation programs.
  • Build, maintain and enhance detailed compensation and incentive models supporting performance‑based pay across AgriBusiness operations, based on approved plan designs.
  • Evaluate the financial feasibility and impact of proposed compensation plan design changes, workforce scenarios, organizational changes, and incentive structures.
  • Partner with HR, Total Rewards, and business leaders to ensure approved compensation programs are aligned with financial targets, performance outcomes, and market competitiveness.

Financial Modeling & Decision Support

  • Develop advanced financial models to assess workforce costs, incentive payouts, accruals, and multi‑year compensation forecasts.
  • Perform scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis to support executive decision‑making, forecasting, and business planning.
  • Interpret complex data and translate analytical outputs into clear financial insights, narratives, and recommendations for senior leadership.

Systems, Tools & Technical Expertise

  • Build, enhance, and maintain compensation and workforce planning models that translate approved plan structures into financial forecasts and scenarios.
  • Ensure data integrity, model governance, auditability, and consistency across financial systems and planning processes.
  • Improve model efficiency and scalability through automation, standardized calculations, and disciplined documentation practices.

Plan Management, Governance & Controls

  • Manage compensation plan calendars, schedules, approvals, and participant acknowledgements.
  • Support compensation plan governance through documentation, testing, validation, and control processes.
  • Partner with HR and Payroll to ensure accurate plan execution, incentive payouts, accruals, and financial reporting.
  • Provide financial modeling, analysis, and governance support for commission‑based sales incentive compensation plans, including payout calculations, forecasting, accruals, and financial impact assessment.

Business Partnership & Communication

  • Serve as a trusted finance partner to AgriBusiness leaders, providing proactive insight into labor, compensation, and incentive costs.
  • Communicate complex financial, technical, and compensation concepts clearly to non‑finance stakeholders.
  • Support ad‑hoc analysis, executive presentations, and planning initiatives as required.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree (MBA or MS in Finance or Analytics) preferred.

 

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, business partnering, or compensation finance, with a strong emphasis on compensation planning and modeling.
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing complex compensation or incentive models in large, matrixed organizations.
  • Experience supporting annual compensation cycles, incentive plans, and workforce cost forecasting.
  • Prior experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, supply chain, or other operationally complex environments preferred.

Other Information

  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills with a strong understanding of compensation and workforce cost drivers. 
  • Hands‑on experience with enterprise planning and modeling tools such as TM1, Anaplan, SAP SAC, or similar platforms.
  • Strong technical competencies in model architecture, calculations, data structures, validation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex timelines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to influence decisions through data‑driven insights.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support business partners or planning activities
