SGS Distribution Lead North

Summary

The Distribution Lead will be responsible for the internal movement of inventory throughout the business unit the position is assigned. The primary focus of this position will be to proactively move product to the area of the upcoming need based on the replenishment strategy, but will also step in and help monitor/take action on the product requisitions that are being entered by the locations within the business unit. This position will work directly with procurement and the business units to ensure SGS has the right inventory in the right quantity at the right place at the right time to meet both the demand of the customer base as well as achieving the working capital and SG&A initiatives set by SGS leadership.

The ideal candidate will reside within our Northern Territory - States include ND, SD, CO, KS, NE, MD, MO, IA, MN, IN, IL, OH, DE, KY, and VA. 

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a team that proactively moves inventory to the correct regional hub and/or distribution center to meet upcoming demand based on the replenishment strategy, monitoring and taking timely action on systematic order requisitions, and helping manage inventory allocations. 
• Actively reviewing demand reports/forecasts and proactively moving inventory from distribution centers to regional hubs to meet upcoming demand 
• Stepping in as needed to help the distribution specialists with the monitoring of product requisitions in order to keep product moving and meet the needed service level expected by the locations entering orders  
• Maintain constant communication with both procurement and the business units to ensure the overall strategy of both are being met by upcoming plans of the other group. This involves understanding weather events, crop shifts, supplier programs, supply constraints, potential substitute products among other details that will play an important role in determining what product is needed in what quantity in what area at any given time. 

Typical Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university, preferred in agronomy or computer science (Equivalent experience of education and experience will be considered for meeting the minimum requirements of the role).
