Procurement Category Manager, Manufacture Engineer

Summary
The Procurement Category Manager will focus on Category planning and sourcing activities for Construction, Engineering, and Capital projects across Simplot’s various global business and manufacturing locations. He/She will be expected to maintain a continuous portfolio pipeline to drive procurement processes across the assigned category landscape. This includes establishing a long-term, 1-3 year strategic category plan to drive value across the enterprise for the assigned projects and initiatives. This strategy development work is done in partnership with the various business unit stakeholders across all global manufacturing facilities. Category strategies include spend analysis/mapping, external market analysis, “should cost” analysis, vendor and supply management, and establishing a multi-year project portfolio. He/She will also lead sourcing projects based on the category strategy and on-demand projects from the respective stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops category plan and project portfolio for moderately sized Construction, Engineering, and Operations projects with mid to high-level critically and complexity.
- Builds strong stakeholder relationships to prioritize and deliver on portfolio projects.
- Manages strategic vendor relationships and performance to ensure delivery of service, quality, cost and supply commitments.
- Lead sourcing projects including RFI, RFP, RFQ and contract development
Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
Relevant Experience
- 3+ years related experience
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in commercial and/or procurement role(s)
- Knowledge working in business or functional unit supported by the category
- Strong experience in sales, presentation, negotiation, and market/data analytic skills
- MS Office Suite Proficiency, Ariba experience a plus
- Strong communication and relationship building
- “Should Cost” modeling
- Experience in corporate capital Procurement process
- Procurement construction management experience
- Understanding of Procurement project controls and project management tools
- Strategic Cost Management
