Health and Safety Intern HQ GS

Summary

Simplot is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Intern to join our Health, Safety, and Security (HS&S) team. This position supports initiatives that ensure the health, safety, and security of employees, contractors, and visitors, aligning with Simplot’s Core Value of Passion for People. This internship begins in January and offers a flexible schedule of a minimum of 20 hours per week during the academic term, transitioning to 40 hours per week during the summer. 

Key Responsibilities

• Program Development: Assist in creating, reviewing, and updating safety programs, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Training and Orientation: Facilitate and participate in employee safety orientations, training sessions, and safety meetings.
• Material Development: Organize and develop training materials on safety-related topics.
• Safety Assessments: Participate in safety-related activities, including audits and risk assessments.
• Incident Management: Process and maintain incident reports, ensuring accurate data collection and documentation.
• Incident Reviews: Attend and contribute to incident review meetings and other safety, health, and security assessments.
• Project Support: Collaborate with the Safety Manager on projects and special assignments.

Typical Education

Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or a related field. Must have at least junior standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
