Customer and Sales Service Specialist

Summary

The Customer & Sales Service Specialist (C&SS Specialist) delivers exceptional service and product support to assigned customer accounts. This role manages the full order lifecycle, ensures accuracy across pricing and documentation, and proactively resolves issues that impact the customer experience. As the account subject matter expert, the Specialist helps drive customer retention, reduce churn, and strengthen Simplot’s brand reputation by providing timely, informed, and solutions‑oriented support. The role operates with limited supervision and frequently makes independent decisions regarding product substitutions, order management, and customer problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage customer accounts and oversee the full order lifecycle, ensuring accuracy in orders, pricing, invoicing, shipping documentation, and customer records.
  • Serve as the primary daily contact for internal and external customers, responding to time‑sensitive inquiries related to product availability, pricing, scheduling, shipping, and payment.
  • Coordinate with production planning, inventory, transportation, and warehouse teams to validate inventory, manage shortages, execute product substitutions, and meet customer demand.
  • Identify, track, and resolve customer shipment issues, deductions, short payments, and rebills to final resolution.
  • Document customer interactions, cases, and account information in Salesforce to support trend analysis and proactive customer management.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts through participation in cross‑functional projects, process documentation, reporting, and departmental initiatives.

Typical Education

College Degree or equivalent Customer Service Experience required.

Relevant Experience

1+ years of related experience in customer service, sales support, supply chain, or a similar role.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage urgent requests and work through ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, analyze issues, and provide effective solutions.
  • Working knowledge of JDE, Salesforce, pricing and deduction management systems, and financial processes, including basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Power BI with the ability to analyze and present moderately complex data.
  • Incumbents resolve most routine and semi‑complex issues independently and escalate only the most complex matters as needed.
