Business Intelligence Engineer III

Simplot is on a transformational journey focused on delivering value to our customers now and in the future. The Enterprise Data Services Team is responsible for creating, implementing, and supporting technology that enables the company to leverage data as a global business asset.  

 

In this position, you will contribute to the Enterprise Data Services team to support and improve our existing Enterprise Data Warehouse and data integrations. Also, this position will be a key contributor to the creation of our future data landscape. We are looking for a creative, curious, and capable individual who loves a challenge and is interested in working with a dynamic team of data professionals.


Candidates must be willing to work in office at the Simplot HQ in Boise, ID. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test. and maintain reliable pipelines to move and transform data accurately based on architectural standards using SSIS and SQL Server 
  • Troubleshoot, document, and resolve issues with existing integrations and processes 
  • Develop subject matter expertise on key business and technical processes 
  • Analyze existing job streams to decompose and rebuild for efficiency and stability 
  • Utilize Azure DevOps for work item management and Git source control for code versioning 
  • Cultivate cross-functional collaborative relationships with Internal Customers and Technology Professionals 
  • Communicate technical and business topics to key Business Stakeholders 
  • Performs analysis of complex functional and business requirements. 
  • Designs, prepares and executes unit tests.
  • Represents team to client/customers.
  • Demonstrates technical leadership and exerts influence outside of immediate team. Develops innovative team solutions to complex problems.
  • Integrates technical expertise and business understanding to create superior solutions for company and customers.
  • Mentors and consults with team members and other organizations, customer, and vendors on complex issues.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • 5+ years experience designing, developing, and supporting data and analytics solutions, including advanced SQL and data modeling across enterprise data platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, cloud data warehouses).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering analytics solutions through multiple full release cycles, with a strong understanding of modern data development methodologies, version control, and CI/CD practices.
  • Deep knowledge of data quality, validation, and testing approaches for analytics pipelines and reporting solutions, with the ability to lead and influence technical design decisions.
  • Strong experience writing advanced SQL queries.
  • Demonstrated experience using Visual Studio and SSIS.
  • Demonstrated capability in researching and solving data processing and movement issues.
  • Strong experience partnering with business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into scalable solutions, combined with effective communication skills and the ability to provide technical leadership within a geographically distributed team.
  • Possesses a growth mind set and eager to learn new technologies/methods to contribute to a collaborative Team.
  • Experience working with SAP platforms and data preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience with Databricks in a data or analytics environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI for reporting and analytics preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience with Python or working in a Python environment preferred.
