About Our Role
An exciting opportunity exists for the permanent full-time position of Maintenance Planner at our Ulverstone food manufacturing facility. Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community and processes around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year whilst employing over 450 people. Manufactured products include fries (coated & uncoated and different cuts), sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns.
Reporting to the Area Manager - Planning & Stores and working within a high performing team, this Mon-Fri role will focus on the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities in line with the site production plan whilst being guided by safety, quality, environment, cost and operational equipment effectiveness (OEE) targets.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain electronic work procedures and packages to facilitate the safe and effective execution of maintenance activities.
- Link maintenance documentation to job plans in the CMMS to improve planning efficiency through automatic work package batch printing.
- Plan maintenance work activities, including work packages, ordering spare parts, tools, materials, equipment, labour, services, contractors and hired equipment.
- Plan and schedule continuous improvement (CI) activities and minor capital works.
- Prepare work packages for ‘opportunity’ maintenance activities, which can be executed when the opportunity arises.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager and Team Leaders with the planning and coordination of un-planned maintenance activities including breakdowns and ‘opportunity’ maintenance as required.
- Develop and maintain the site’s CMMS such that all information and records are relevant, accurate, current, complete, recorded in a timely manner and supportive of the site’s reliability strategy.
- Review and analyse work order feedback to ensure accuracy, quality and completeness of maintenance history and records.
- Chair weekly maintenance planning and scheduling meetings with key Engineering and Production personnel.
- Report weekly KPI performance
- Plan and schedules factory maintenance days and shutdowns and conducting reviews thereafter to facilitate CI activities
- Assist with the preparation of contract documents, service agreements, calling of tenders and on site supervision of contract labour as required.
About You
We are seeking candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, drive and motivation to succeed in this role.
- Mechanical trade qualification (essential).
- Demonstrated experience in a planning or scheduling role (desirable)
- Intermediate to advanced user of CMMS software (noting that Simplot utilise MEX) in addition to the MS Office suite of products
- A high level of business acumen, including analytical skills
- The ability to influence and communicate with key stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge and experience of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. a urine based drug & alcohol screen)
