About Our Role

Simplot Australia are seeking applicants for the permanent full-time position of Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) for our Ulverstone based food manufacturing facility.  Working as part of a highly skilled maintenance team, this role will play a critical part in our scheduled preventative maintenance activities in addition to breakdown services.

Commencing ASAP, this position entails a day work Mon-Fri roster (0700 - 1530hrs) with a scheduled tri-weekly maintenance day, and shift coverage where required.  2 hours per week is accrued towards an RDO.

With hourly rates of up to $38.91 + shift loadings, allowances & penalties (where applicable) - this is a great opportunity to bring your demonstrated mechanical skills to an exciting, permanent role with a truly global business.

What You Will Do

 

  • Participate and contribute to all site safety activities
  • Ensure a variety of plant & equipment incl. food preparation, cutting equipment, high speed packaging equipment, pumping systems, conveyors and sorting equipment is maintained as per the maintenance schedule
  • Preventative, predictive, breakdown and corrective maintenance activities
  • Working in conjunction with other on-site trades (electricians + contractors) to ensure overall job scope is completed to a high standard specification.
  • Contribution to continual improvement processes
  • Working with automated equipment
  • Use of MEX (CMMS) and other windows based systems

About You

The successful candidate shall possess the following certifications & attributes;
 

  • 100% commitment to health and safety within the workplace
  • Cert III Engineering – Mechanical (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience with pneumatics and hydraulics, with factory maintenance / shutdown work being advantageous
  • The ability to work on a Mon-Fri roster with the requirement to work a 10 hour maintenance day tri-weekly and provide shift coverage where required
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask, combined with strong attention to detail
  • Possess positive communication skills & a problem solving mindset
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
  • Possess your own hand tools suitable for working on a range of mechanical plant & equipment
