About Our Role

An exciting opportunity exists in the full-time permanent role of Maintenance Repair and Operations (MRO) Buyer to be based at our Ulverstone food manufacturing facility.  Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community and processes around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year whilst employing over 450 people.  Manufactured products include fries (coated & uncoated and different cuts), sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns.

Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager-APAC-Global Procurement, in this Mon-Fri role you will be responsible for purchasing of parts, supplies and goods to support maintenance, operations and functional departments (e.g. QA). This will include pricing, purchasing, sourcing, PO invoice resolution and reporting in accordance with all applicable internal policies and procedures to ensure goods and material are properly received with emphasis on quality, customer service and cost reduction. Experience working in a maintenance or manufacturing setting will be highly regarded.

What You Will Do

 

  • Assume responsibility for delivery of all aspects of the purchase transaction, including; vendor selection, sourcing, accurate and prompt transaction processing in addition to problem solving & resolution
  • Conversion of requisitions to purchase orders (PO), expediting of critical purchases, management of approved vendor lists and validation of vendor pricing
  • Resolution of transactional vendor quality complaints
  • Invoice reconciliation
  • Work in conjunction with accounts payable function and master data management teams to ensure vendor data is up to date and accurate
  • Provide training and support for suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and procurement work flows to expedite purchases
  • Contribute in strategic activities in collaboration with the Global procurement team to implement and manage strategic contracts and service agreement for facilities maintenance & outsourcing of plant services
  • Provide relief coverage for other buyers as required

About You

 

  • Demonstrated experience in purchasing of industrial supplies, as a parts interpreter or working in a maintenance capacity will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge of purchasing / planning / inventory or warehousing roles 
  • A 100% commitment to health & safety in the workplace
  • Experience with CMMS / Purchasing Systems - MEX / JDE / SAP would be advantageous
  • Intermediate to advanced user of the MS Office suite of products.
  • Strong levels of attention to detail
  • A high level of both written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer focused role (e.g. internal customers)
  • Leadership experience will be advantageous
  • Ability to liaise with a wide demographic of employees and contractors from the Production Team through to the Global Procurement Team
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based D&A screening)
