About Our Role

• Manufacturing based HR Advisor opportunity
• Provide an initial point of contact for employee HR related queries
• Interact and collaborate with a wide demographic of site & business stakeholders
• Based in the picturesque town of Ulverstone, NW Tasmania

An opportunity exists with Simplot Global Food in the position of Human Resources (HR) Advisor at our Ulverstone manufacturing facility.  Reporting to the HR Manager within a supportive team environment, the HR Advisor will support site based HR activities across the functions of Production / Maintenance & Engineering / Health, Safety & Wellbeing / Accounting / Quality / Sustainability and Continuous Improvement. 

Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community dating back to 1942, and our location on the banks of the Leven River is ideally situated close to the rich, fertile soils where our potatoes are grown. We process around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year, whilst employing over 450 people.  Site capabilities / products include fries (coated & uncoated + different cuts), sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns in addition to 8 x automated packing lines.  Our customers include the leading QSR chains, major and independent supermarkets in addition to the food service industry.

What You Will Do

In this active hands-on, people focused role - the HR Advisor will provide generalist HR support for the delivery of essential employee lifecycle processes and services including (but not limited to);
 

• Contribute to site safety initiatives
• Management of employee queries related to payroll, HR and company policy and procedures
• Employee performance management incl. workplace investigations
• Onboarding & offboarding
• Provision of industrial relations advice
• HR administration - maintaining HR system changes & income protection paperwork
• Coordination of site wide HR communications
• Undertake site based project activity as directed by the HR Manager
• Provide oversight of production / maintenance employee rostering whilst acting as a relief Workforce Planner when required
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements whilst adhering to business internal operating procedures
• Participate and contribute to site continuous improvement (CI) activities

About You

Possessing a passion for all things people, you will demonstrate the following attributes / competencies
 

• A 100% commitment to safety, health and wellbeing in the workplace
• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources (or 5 years minimum demonstrated experience within a HR Generalist role)
• Ability to influence conversational outcomes
• Possess a collaborative and personable approach whilst displaying the trait of resilience
• Working knowledge of HRMS applications (noting that Simplot utilise SAP Success Factors)
• Exposure to employee timekeeping / payroll software would be advantageous
• Intermediate to advanced user of the Windows OS + MS Office suite of products
• You can demonstrate a high level of both positive and objective communication skills (written & verbal) 
• Ability to build relationships and partner with a wide demographic of stakeholders from factory based production employees to senior company management
