About Our Role

Simplot works closely with Australian farmers throughout Tasmania, NSW, Victoria and Queensland to grow quality vegetables for processing throughout our Australian frozen and shelf stable product operations. 

An opportunity exists in the full-time permanent position of Field Officer for engagement with our Raw Procurement division.  Reporting to the Agricultural Manager, this role forms an integral link between Simplot and our potato growers across North-Western Tasmania (Ulverstone to Sassafras), working closely with our growers to manage cropping and harvest operations. Based out of our Ulverstone manufacturing facility, the successful candidate will spend time both in the field, and connecting with our wider team in the office (a tools of the trade vehicle forms part of this role).

Working Monday to Friday (with some seasonal weekend work as required) - this is a great opportunity for those with a passion for agriculture who are looking to take the next step in their ag career. 

What You Will Do

 

  • Contracting of potato growing to support overall crop volumes
  • Intake forecasting
  • Manage planting and harvesting programs 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our growers
  • Accurate data and record keeping
  • Provide technical advice to growers to ensure optimum yield 
  • Contribute to site safety & continuous improvement activities

About You

 

  • Possess a 100% commitment to health & safety in the workplace
  • Demonstrated experience ideally in agriculture  - though we are open to considering candidates from a related industry e.g. forestry or an operational role.
  • Possess a current drivers licence (mandatory)
  • Willingness to learn, energetic & motivated outlook
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Be a self starter with exceptional time management skills
  • Ability to make well considered & thought out decisions
  • Good written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to use Windows OS & the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based D&A screening)
