About Our Role

Simplot Australia are seeking applicants for the position of Maintenance Tradesperson to be engaged on a permanent basis at our Ulverstone manufacturing facility. Established in 1943, the plant originally supplied dehydrated vegetables to armed forces during WWII. In the late 40s it became a rabbit processing facility, canned peas and frozen vegetables production began in the early 50s. By 1987, the site had become solely a potato processing plant. Today, the Ulverstone plant processes around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year and employs over 450 people.
 

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will require day-to-day building asset repair and maintenance (reactive and preventative) across a Mon-Fri 700 - 1530 work week.  

What you Will Do

 

  • Perform general facilities maintenance and minor repairs
  • Maintain asset management plans and contribute to best practices for building repairs and maintenance
  • Oversee day-to-day contractor management and scheduling, including landscaping and grounds maintenance
  • Conduct regular building and asset audits/inspections, ensuring corrective actions are addressed
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including site safety inspections
  • Identify, plan and schedule all major repairs to site building assets

About You

 

  • Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety & wellbeing in the workplace
  • Relevant Trade qualification - Certificate III in ​building / plumbing / carpentry
  • Proven experience within the building industry (3 years minimum)
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in communication with a diverse demographic of stakeholders both internal and external
  • Knowledge of  building industry, legislated standards and regulation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also effectively collaborating within a team​
  • Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
