Summary
This role will be responsible for guiding and implementing efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of rotating equipment at the Rock Springs Ammonia Plant. The Reliability Engineer will work with the Area Maintenance Managers, Engineering, Operations Staff, and Corporate Staff to drive the reliability effort for the Ammonia Plant rotating equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the Simplot Mining and Manufacturing Reliability Improvement Initiative related to Ammonia Plant rotating equipment.
- Develop and maintain asset criticality ranking(s)for the Rock Springs Ammonia Plant.
- Work with Maintenance and Operations groups on the Rock Springs Ammonia Plant rotating equipment predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
- Manage the Rock Springs Ammonia Plant Bad Actor and Risk/Vulnerability list for rotating equipment.
- Manage the Rock Springs Ammonia Plant rotating equipment Condition Based Maintenance program and evaluate / implement technologies for program continuous improvement.
- Manage and track Ammonia Plant rotating equipment related root cause analysis efforts.
- Drive Rock Springs Ammonia Plant rotating equipment turnaround scope development and planning efforts. Evaluate methods of improvement using technology-based turn around inspection methods and tracking.
- Utilize turn around inspection data, PdM data, and inspection data to support turn around planning and work prioritization efforts for Ammonia Plant rotating equipment.
- Support the 5-year capital planning process and longer-term capital planning efforts with data from turn around inspections, PdM technologies and other inspections to assign appropriate priorities and risk ranking for projects.
- Collaborate with the Project Engineering team as the technical resource for Ammonia Plant rotating equipment capital projects.
- Provide technical support on rotating equipment troubleshooting, inspection, and repairs for the Ammonia Plant, the balance of the Rock Springs Plant, and other Simplot Mining and Manufacturing facilities as required.
Typical Education
- B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Relevant Experience
Required:
- 5 or more years of demonstrated experience with rotating equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, preferably in an Ammonia and / or Phosphate based fertilizer manufacturing plant.
- Knowledgeable on reliability methodologies and practices.
- Experience with Predictive Maintenance technologies, i.e. vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, etc.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and drive efforts to completion.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to work effectively with people.
- Strong desire to learn with a high level of initiative.
Preferred:
- Experience with high-speed turbomachinery – i.e. steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, dry gas seals, integrally geared compressors, etc.
- Experience with Bently Nevada proximity probe systems.
- ISO Category 2 vibration analysis certification
- Machinery Lubrication Analyst (MLA) level 1 certification
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, i.e. JD Edwards.
