An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join our vegetable processing facility in Devonport, Tasmania.  The Devonport facility produces frozen vegetable products including peas, beans, carrot, broccoli and cauliflower.  Our customers include the major supermarkets and independents across Australia as well as foodservice customers.

What you will do

Reporting to the Project Manager you will control and deliver complex capital engineering projects from concept to completion to facilitate improvements to the site’s operation.  This will be in line with best practice project management principles and the relevant standards, procedures, regulations and budgetary requirements including: 

 

  • Capital Projects
  • Feasibility and Scoping
  • Design, Tender and Contract
  • Installation/Construction
  • Commissioning and Handover
  • Legal and Statutory
  • Engineering Standards, Documentation and Communication
  • Continuous Improvement and Development
  • Safety, Health, Environment, GMP and HACCP

 

This ensures projects are delivered in full, on time and within budget while meeting all safety, quality and environmental targets:

 

  • New and modified process lines commissioned on time with full production rates achieved in accordance with the project schedule.
  • All projects delivered on time, within budget and without any safety, quality or environmental incidents. 
  • Successful implementation of projects that deliver tangible financial returns to SAPL and meet stated objectives and KPI targets.
  • Trouble free start-up of new plant and equipment.
  • Implementation of best practice project management systems, procedures and processes

About you

  • A proven track record as a Project Engineer and an understanding of process engineering.  
  • Ideally holds industry experience in a FMCG / Food manufacturing environment or industry operating rotating plant & equipment.  
  • Degree qualified Engineer and can demonstrate solid experience managing multiple multidisciplinary projects and groups of contractors.  
  • Holds a sound knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and the ability to effectively build rapport, communicate with and work cohesively with employees at all levels of the business – management, staff and shop floor personnel.  
  • Are results driven, can effectively manage and influence multiple stakeholders and enjoy the challenge of operating within a continuous improvement program.
