About our Role
- Casual production based opportunities for Simplot Devonport's brassica season
- Shift based positions - work across day / afternoon / night shifts on a 7 day Mon-Sun roster
- Base hourly rates from $37.83 (incl. 25% casual loading) + 15% afternoon shift allowance +30% night shift allowance with weekend penalty rates + OT (where available)
An opportunity exists for the multiple casual opportunities for Production Brassica Operators at Simplot Devonport. Simplot Devonport is amongst the last producers of scale of frozen vegetables in Australia and has a proud history in the local community since 1942. We employ over 300 people and process products including peas, beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and onions that are grown by our local Tasmanian growers and pride ourselves on providing premium quality products to our customers.
Reporting to the Process Area Manager and commencing early February 2025, these casual roles will work as part of a busy production team in the processing of farm fresh, locally grown brassica vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts) into market leading frozen vegetable products that Australian's love to enjoy.
With attractive base hourly rates of $37.83 p/h (incl. of 25% casual loading), the Production Brassica season will run until approx. July / August 2025 (harvest yield dependent).
Day shift: 0650 - 1500hrs
Afternoon shift: 1450 - 2300hrs
Night shift: 1050 - 0700hrs
What You Will Do
Working within a food manufacturing environment, the Production Brassica Operator will undertake duties including (but not limited to):
- Safe operations of vegetable processing fixed plant & equipment
- Intake activities
- Quality inspection
- Foreign object removal
- Sorting / separation of received raw material
- Raw material grading
- Monitoring of production lines
- Contribute to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and quality initiatives
- Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities
- Clean down of plant & equipment + general work areas
About You
- Possess a 100% commitment to health and safety in the workplace
- Ability to work over a 7 day roster inclusive of day / afternoon / night shifts with the flexibility to adapt to site operational requirements
- Ability to undertake repetitive manual handling tasks in an active. manual role
- Be available for commencement in early Feb 2025 with the roles ending in mid-2025
- Experience in a vegetable processing or manufacturing environment will be highly regarded
- Hold valid Australian work rights with a valid visa until a minimum of August 2025
- Possess a strong, reliable work ethic with positive communication skills
- Ability to undertake in house recruitment activities (e.g. aptitude testing) as part of the recruitment activities
- Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
