About our Roles

Simplot Australia are seeking outstanding candidates for multiple casual roles in the positions of Production Operators & Forklift Operators for opportunities at our Devonport based frozen vegetable processing facility.

Reporting to the Production Manager, these critical roles will form part of our logistics, process or packing teams, and involve safe operations of fixed plant processing equipment (for Production Operator roles) & counterbalance forklifts (for LF licenced + experienced fork candidates) across a variety of 8 hour shifts (day / afternoon / night) over a 7 day roster.  Our state of the art processing equipment, and modern fleet of both gas and electric forklifts are regularly maintained and kept in premium operating condition by our maintenance teams.  Please note that a number of these forklift operating roles will be required to work within our cold store (appropriate PPE provided)

  • Ordinary hourly rates of $37.01 (incl. of 25% casual loading) + shift loadings & overtime (where applicable)

What You Will Do


Production Operators

  • Work within our process or packing teams on the intake, inspection / quality control, processing and packing of snap frozen local Tasmanian vegetables (crops are processed fresh from the farm harvest)
  • Operate a variety of fixed plant processing equipment incl; colour sorters, blanchers (steamers), freezer tunnels, scales, conveyors, dicing equipment & high speed packaging equipment (training provided)
  • Adhere to site safety and operational policies whilst contributing to continuous improvement within our processes


Forklift Operators

  • Safely transport processed frozen product (peas, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, onions) between our production areas and cold stores
  • Use of fork mounted RF systems + radio communications
  • Operate within our cold store / freezer stacking the bins of frozen product to a level of 7 racks high and 2 bins deep using a reach truck.
  • Perform pre-start checks on forklift equipment
  • Changing of & charging spent batteries (for electric forklifts)
  • For those candidates with a HR licence - you may also be required to transport frozen product between our cold store facilities across the NW coast in our new frozen goods heavy rigid vehicle (incl. loading and unloading)
  • Adhere to site safety and operational policies whilst contributing to continuous improvement within our processes

About You

 

  • Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety and wellbeing within the workplace
  • Prior experience within a production role or food processing is a bonus
  • Forklift Operators - hold a current forklift LF licence and a high level of competency supported by demonstrated experience (daily forklift operations) + HR truck licence would be advantageous, but not mandatory
  • A willingness & ability to work across a variety of day / afternoon / night 8 hour shifts (Mon-Sun)
  • Intermediate level of technical capability to operate our forklift mounted RF screens
  • Possess positive communication skills
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
  • Willingness to undergo aptitude based assessments as part of recruitment processes (completed in house).
