About Our Role

• Permanent, full-time shift position based at Simplot Devonport (noting the role will commence in a Mon-Fri day work arrangement until site familiarisation is completed) 
• Opportunity to work on a unique array of food processing fixed-plant & equipment
• Base hourly rate of $50.19 (for those candidates who hold both Cert III Electrotech + Cert III Instrumentation)
• 15% afternoon shift allowance / +30% night shift allowance + weekend OT (where available)
• Electrical Licence Allowance $70 per week + Tool Allowance $22 per week

Here at Simplot Devonport we're seeking applicants for the full-time, permanent position(s) of Maintenance Electrician.  Employing over 300 Tasmanians, Simplot Devonport is the last processor of scale of frozen vegetables in Australia, and has a proud history in the local community since 1942.  Processing locally grown peas, beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, onions and brussel sprouts - we are the home of Australia's favourite foods!

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Electrician will perform planned, scheduled and breakdown electrical activities on a wide range of fixed plant and equipment in alignment with the site's Maintenance & Production schedules that support optimisation of plant reliability, improvements related to employee safety, and site continuous improvement activities. 

Commencing on a Monday to Friday day work schedule, upon completion of site familiarisation & competency assessment - the role will transition into a shift-based position (inclusive of roster blocks based on a 7 day / 12 hour roster and Monday to Friday day work)

Working closely with the wider Engineering / Maintenance (incl. Mechanical / Planning / Stores / Control Systems) teams in addition to the Production team - this hands on, technical role will provide electrical expertise to Simplot Devonport's operations by;
 

• Identifying faults and performing breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipment
• Inspecting, testing and maintaining machinery & equipment in production areas + wider plant buildings & facilities
• Working with PLC and electronically controlled system diagnostics, fault finding, programming and connections
• Performing general plant and building maintenance work
• Undertaking specific project work upon request
• Performing assigned tasks in accordance with all Simplot Safety, Health & Wellbeing + Environmental policies & procedures
• Utilising MEX CMMS to update work orders, search asset history and advise on any maintenance trends or opportunity for improvement and innovation
• Taking part in continuous improvement (CI) activities

About You

• ​​​​​Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace
• Hold a Cert III Electrotechnology + Cert III Instrumentation 
• Demonstrated diagnostic, fault finding and troubleshooting skills
• Electrical related manufacturing / FMCG experience (mandatory)
• Experience in safety & quality systems and procedures
• Ability to read and interpret schematics (advantageous)
• Sound judgment and decision making ability
• Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills in addition to time management skills
• Intermediate user of CMMS software + MS Windows OS
• Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
