Automation Supervisor (Portage la Prairie, MB)

Summary

The Automation Supervisor is responsible for maintaining all process Instrumentation and controls throughout the facility to ensure safe operating practices. The Automation Supervisor provides technical direction and guidance to the instrumentation technicians. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the equipment throughout the plant and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.

Key Responsibilities

• Leads/guides teams in establishing the appropriate repairs and process improvements.
• Troubleshoots and makes minor and major repairs of equipment, including automation systems, In order to prevent or minimize equipment and machine downtime, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Assists with design and layout of automation systems.
• Assesses and aligns with key stakeholders the feasibility and soundness of proposed products, or equipment solutions.
• Assists with preventative/predictive maintenance on equipment throughout the facility
• Maintains Company standards for quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs: Works within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.
• May assist Engineering and others in developing plans for instrumentation, automation systems for capital and other projects

Typical Education

• Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

• Must have a minimum of 5 years Instrumentation/Automation experience

Other Information

• Food processing background being an asset.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers and Control Systems.
• Preference to knowledge of Rockwell Automation products & Factory Talk, Foundation Field Bus, ASi Bus, and DeviceNet.
• Must possess well-developed computer skills.
• Must be able to read and understand PIDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Must be able to communicate verbally in a professional manner.
