Summary
The Turnaround Planner is a person experienced in Maintenance who has the skills and knowledge to create job packages from Plant Maintenance work orders designated to be completed during a turnaround (a scheduled plant maintenance outage) with a focus on ensuring safety and environmental compliance. The job package contains information about labor, materials and contract services needed to ensure safe and efficient execution of the work, and includes jobs such as repairs, replacements, cleaning, inspections, etc. May also be required as needed to develop commissioning packages and assist with capital planning and scheduling. During turnaround execution, the Turnaround planner will be expected to function as zone coordinator to create job packages for any add-on/discovery repair jobs.
Key Responsibilities
- Strengthen and improve safety in the workplace through compliance with rules and regulations, safety, inspections, and training
- Ensure environmental compliance through proper knowledge and enforcement of procedures and requirements
- Maintain good housekeeping standards and expectations.
- Effectively encourage new and innovative ways of thinking.
- Works with Area Maintenance Planners to develop work orders/work packages for Turnaround & Outage events no later than 120 days prior to Turnaround.
- Provide preliminary estimates for work scope items to support the early budgetary and schedule estimates.
- Leads job walk / site verifications with contractors, maintenance planners and area managers to ensure job packages are fully complete and satisfactory including all support Craft requirements.
- Facilitate Creation of Field Execution Plans for assigned Scope of work.
- Facilitates identification of resources required for all related scopes including parts, labor, equipment, material, special tools, procedures, critical lifts, documents, and specialty contract services.
- Develops schedule with the Turnaround manager.
- Exhibit understanding of Project Reporting, including productivity, percent complete, remaining duration and critical path.
- Analyze schedule for inefficiencies, create ideas for solutions.
- Provide daily support in collecting and inputting work status including percent complete, resource percent utilized, estimated remaining durations, change to work sequences, and/or changes to work scope.
- Originate change order tracking and input additional work into the schedule.
- Work with contractors, production, engineers, reliability, SME’s, etc. to obtain job specific information and integrate project work scope into detailed, resource loaded turnaround schedules.
- Continually improving planning, scheduling, purchasing, stores, data management and job reporting systems to increase planning effectiveness and efficiency.
Typical Education
- Post-secondary degree from a 2-year technical school or a 4-year college/university – desired
- Or equivalent industrial experience in manufacturing, specifically chemical operations
Relevant Experience
- 5+ Years’ experience in facilities maintenance/planning
- 5+ Years’ demonstrated leadership
Other Information
- JDE experience desired.
- Effective communication through written and verbal communication
- Microsoft Suite experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize
- High level of attention to detail
- Solid understanding of business professionalism and the ability to work in a team environment and promote a positive work environment
- Must be detail oriented, able to multi-task and have strong time management skills.
- Experience with RCA practices preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA and Environmental regulations
