Maintenance Reliability Supervisor (Overton, NV)

Summary

The Maintenance Reliability/Planner/Supervisor uses machine condition monitoring and historical data to determine preventive\predictive maintenance schedules and future repairs that will be needed on all facility equipment. Plans the resources to facilitate those repairs in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Include the following but others may be assigned.
  • Promotes a safety culture at Simplot.
  • Ensures that the planned work complies with all applicable government regulations and Simplot’s safety standards.
  • Accountable for maintenance planning activities. Enhances personal productivity by organizing the planning routine according to priority and maintains an organized work environment.
  • Creates a work environment that encourages communication, cooperation, and collaboration across diverse work groups.
  • Assist in development capital and expense budgets for maintenance.
  • Submit CIP’S for capital projects and provide justification for projects and repairs.
  • Review billings on projects and repairs to match quote to billings.
  • Provide justification for billing on contractor work.
  • Work with warehouse management to ensure stock and parts request are received in a timely manner.
  • Provides logistical support in the use of external resources such as equipment, contractors, professional help, etc.
  • Schedules and plans maintenance weekly work and preventive\predictive schedules for work force.
  • Hold weekly meetings with production to set work schedules and equipment availability schedules.
  • Must be able to use parts manuals, read diagrams, schematics, and other documentation.
  • Must have excellent planning and organizing skills to ensure parts are available so repairs are completed in a manner that make best use of company resources.
  • Review work orders for each significant piece of information.
  • Assign work orders needing planning and material to planning backlog.
  • Assure work order has proper approval and priority.
  • Receive and process daily schedule and late work report from previous day.

Key Responsibilities (Continued)

  • Enter work orders into JD Edwards to accept charges and close when completed.
  • Maintain integrity of PM program, i.e., checklists, trigger frequency, compliance, and schedules.
  • Collaborates with warehouse management to establish and maintain equipment parts catalogs, equipment history, storeroom, maximum/maximum levels
  • Compile weekly compliance reports.
  • Review actual vs. planned on completed work orders.
  • Identify recurring maintenance problems.
  • Maintain maintenance performance parameters for department.
  • Guide and direct maintenance team’s daily work.
  • Collect and review data for availability and utilization of equipment.
  • Develops and maintains standard job parts lists.
  • Identify risk matrixes along with bad actors \ vulnerabilities.
  • Complete RCAs when incident meets trigger requirements.
  • Continually looking for ways to improve efficiency and optimization.
  • Continually working on the AEP (Annual Execution Plan) and CIP (Continuous Improvement Plans).
  • Pursues professional development by attending relevant training and conferences and stays abreast of emerging trends in the industry.

Typical Education

  • 4-year degree from a college or university is preferred

Relevant Experience

  • Must have 5 years in a working maintenance organization. Mining and milling equipment preferred

Position Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must possess a thorough knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of mining equipment and operations. Must be familiar with all locations of our mining operation.  Must know all procedures for the operation of all equipment within the mine, mill, and pipeline facilities. Must possess a working knowledge of the federal and state regulations that oversee mining, milling and slurry pipeline operations.  Must have a strong mechanical background.  Must be able to interpret parts manuals and electrical prints. Must understand job costing.
  • Must be able to use parts books and read diagrams.  Must be flexible and adjust priorities.  Must be a self-starter. Determine parts needed for repairs.  Must have excellent planning and organizing skills to ensure parts are available so repairs are completed in a manner that make best use of company resources.

 

LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Must posses solid verbal and written communication skills.  Must be able to communicate verbally and through writing to vendors.  Must be able to write reports and justifications.  Must also communicate with groups of eight to ten people on a weekly basis, communicating weekly work plans. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure Manuel.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Must have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate level working knowledge of Excel and Word.  Must also have the knowledge of the computer system currently being used such as or JDE (JD Edwards).

 

MATHEMATICS ABILITY:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  An understanding of job costing.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Must be able to determine if the problem is important enough to fix at the time or if the equipment can continue to be operated.  Must be able to interpret cost quotes and unit costing to ensure the best value and product for the money.

Other Information

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • MSHA new miner and annual refresher training
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and have strong interpersonal skills

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sits most of the time in an office setting but must also be able to crawl and climb on machinery or in close spaces, and examine what work needs to be done.  May inspect in high places. The ability to talk, hear, must use hands to finger, handle and feel objects and equipment.  Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms to inspect equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.  Be able to work in harsh environments, including but not limited, extreme heat, extreme cold, windy, dusty, slick, wet conditions.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Spilt between office setting and field work.
  • May be required to work Tuesday through Saturday

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

  • This position reports to Mine Superintendent.
