Distribution Center Manager - Othello, WA

Summary

To provide leadership and direction in the establishment and implementation of Food Group goals/objectives directed at effective, efficient customer order fulfillment, production unit support, redistribution of products, staff development at the production and warehouse facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Must promote healthy and safety work practices.
  • Responsible for supporting, managing, or implementing Food Safety and Product Quality standards.
  • Develop line management staff skills in employee motivation, functional training, interpersonal and interdepartmental work team-building effectiveness, CIP training, goal achievement, budget training and cultural diversity issues.
  • Through staff, facilitate effective implementation of department and Food Group programs designed to enhance customer service performance and operating efficiency.
  • Develop planning process in concert with logistics staff management that improve distribution center responsiveness to competitively focused reduced lead times and value-added customer services.
  • Lead efforts to enhance warehouse information systems effectiveness and training, data accuracy/reliability, product rotation procedures, packaging integrity, and material handling systems, using necessary logistics support staff where applicable.
  • Manage the ongoing development of programs designed to enhance utilization of building and handling equipment assets, coordination and effectiveness of maintenance support, and vendorsupplied services.
  • Champion efforts to provide a safe, sanitary workplace for personnel and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as all adopted industry guidelines.
  • Coordinate the deployment of inventory into/from local public warehouse facilities and associated Simplot facilities and provide the necessary product loading and handling.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of warehousing and production that supports Food Group goals and assist various team members necessary to support projects at all levels of the organization.
  • Where appropriate provide leadership and for WIP, Dry and Poly warehouses.
  • Coordinate projects as required and assist with conflict resolution to avoid disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Coordinate, assist in development, train, and monitor warehousing and production staffs where necessary ensuring proper receipting, warehousing and relieving WIP, outbound orders and to validate shipments to ensure accurate recall records.
     

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • 5+ years related experience and/or training
  • Distribution Center Management experience a plus
  • Technologically Savvy 
  • Must obtain and maintain Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) certification for entry into low oxygen freezer environment. 
  • Must obtain and maintain Authorized Fall Protection Certification. 
  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Good written and oral communication required. Ability to follow instructions and identify mistakes.

Other Information

  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Must obtain first and CPR certification.
  • May spend extended time walking, bending, twisting and/or stooping on hard surface.

Wage range or rate of pay: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, plus annual incentive plan eligibility
