Summary

This job is responsible for overseeing and leading the activities of the processing team to ensure the processing of quality products that meet customer expectations.  This position is responsible for assisting in meeting shift goals defined by specific budgets while making sure that the processing of the product is in compliance with the Production Schedule and customer specifications.  This position is also responsible for managing and directing the processing team in accomplishing the following:  peeling, trimming / sorting, cutting, grading, defect removal, blanching, drying, and frying the product as well as ensuring proper ingredient addition.  The individual in this position will provide assistance to the shift management and processing teams in the search for continuous improvement.  The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the Processing area along with having to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. ns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of moving equipment and other potential safety hazards in a production plant.
  • Ensures necessary level of communication is maintained with the appropriate personnel.
  • Must have strong leadership and effective coaching skills along with being able to demonstrate initiative, creativity and be self-motivated.
  • Able to correctly use SDS and first aid procedures for chemicals listed in SDS.
  • Able to understand all HMI touchscreen function’s.
  • Ensures the ability to demonstrate and understand the 12 units of operations and the water system.
  • Utilizes computer and computer programs to communicate, document, and track shift information and ensures that all documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.
  • May assist in training other personnel.
  • Maintains Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
    • Works within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.
    • Ensures proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of all packaging equipment and systems.
  • Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and plant procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Maintains necessary level of communication with team members and other support groups and does so in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
  • Ensures that additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Other Information

  • Ensures the ability to identify, explain, shut down, start up, and ensure the working condition of equipment and control panels in the processing areas.
  • Monitors the performance of all processing area employees and constructively corrects improper performance or deficiencies.
  • Coordinates and monitors break schedules and ensures coverage for line areas.
  • Communicates with and leads the processing area team on an assigned shift to ensure that required volumes and budgets are being met.
  • Ensures that information is accurate on all paperwork and is entered correctly into the manufacturing management system (MMS) IFIX, and other computer systems, and demonstrates an understanding of how to use the information to make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize and respond to all troubleshooting situations and works together with the shift manager, core team, and other areas in order to resolve situations in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead the group in a manner that encourages openness and idea sharing.
  • Identify emergency exits and eye wash/shower stations.
  • Communication with appropriate personnel.
  • Become familiar with the SOP’s and available resources for assistance.
  • Able to identify all emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and eye wash/shower stations in retail and mainline areas.
  • Able to correctly perform LOTO on all equipment in the Mainline and Form Line area.
