Systems Service Technician - Moses Lake Production Campus

Summary

This position is responsible for electrical/electronic & mechanical maintenance, efficient and effective operation and sanitation of defect removal equipment within the Moses Lake Simplot factory site during his/her shift in a manner that ensures safety of personnel, food safety and optimal equipment performance.  The individual in this position will be required to understand the operation of the factory and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.

 
This position offers a $1,250 sign-on bonus and up to $2,500 in retention bonuses.
 
There are two plant facilities that make up the Moses Lake Production Campus. The selected candidate for this role will begin their training at one of these facilities and then will be assigned to one of the two locations after training is complete. 

Key Responsibilities

   

  • Ensures alertness and constant awareness for the safe and efficient operation of equipment within their area of responsibility.
  • Operates and monitors the optical defect sorting systems to achieve optimum defect removal efficiencies.
  • Provides skilled troubleshooting, repair, and support on the optical defect sorting systems and supporting equipment including mechanical and plumbing, electrical, and electronic aspects.
  • Inspects components of the defect sorting systems and performs the preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Provides troubleshooting support and repair of the plant analytical instruments and equipment.
  • Utilizes computer and computer programs to communicate, document, and track shift information.  These responsibilities include providing minimal IT/LAN user support for the factory (including HMI and SCADA computers); and ensures the upkeep & accuracy of data reporting systems such as maintenance CMMS system(s), production MMS, department logs, work orders and supply checkout procedures, ensuring that all documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conducts daily line inspections of area(s) as directed.  
  • Ensures that work orders are completed as assigned in a timely manner. 
  • Performs assigned responsibilities during plant evacuation or other emergency situations. 
  • Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and incorporates acquired skills and knowledge. 
  • May assist in training of new defect systems personnel.
  • Maintains Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function safely while representing the Company. 
  • Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and plant procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Maintains necessary level of communication with team members and other support groups and does so in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
  • Ensures that additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.

Typical Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. 

 

It is preferred that the candidate will have an Associate’s Degree (A.A.S.) in Electronics, or nearly complete, in the process of acquiring the degree, or some other equivalent technical degree or certification from a trade school, college, or military training; or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Combination of experience and education will be considered.

Other Information

  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to able to identify and distinguish colors (i.e. wiring, instrumentation, color codes, etc)
  • Must be able to safely work with and around cleaning and sanitizing chemicals and be able to effectively use personal protective equipment as appropriate for given tasks. 
  • Must have their own hand tools.
  • Must have good electrical, and mechanical skills, demonstrate a willingness to successfully operate, maintain, and perform equipment sanitation duties within area(s) of responsibility to defect systems equipment, and demonstrate excellent communication skills during a panel interview.
