Maintenance Engineer Intern - Moses Lake, WA

Summary

Maintenance engineering plays a vital role in the efficiency, development and progress of manufacturing and processing. Maintenance Engineers are responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of plant assets. They focus on systems necessary to provide proper response to failures and proper repairs to the equipment. The Maintenance Engineer Intern will develop and provide skill-based training to craftsmen on specific equipment in the plant and general skill-based knowledge. They will also work with other professionals to improve production facilities and reduce the incidents of costly breakdowns. They also provide improvement to maintenance methods and safety of plant, personnel, and production processes. This position will report to the Maintenance Department.

 

This internship is for summer 2024 with the possibility of extending longer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Duties provide meaningful work experience and business knowledge to college students in pursuit of a Mechanical or Reliability Engineering Degree
  • Works to develop and update technical documentation to support the reliability efforts of the plant such as: job libraries, specifications, procedures, etc.
  • Supporting craftsmen performing all facets of maintenance work and responding to equipment faults
  • Troubleshooting equipment breakdowns
  • Specifying replacement parts and ensuring the equipment is functioning correctly
  • Inspecting jobs to verify the work is performed correctly
  • Partnering with other departments and customers, specifically other engineering and production teams
  • Developing processes to manage maintenance tools, stores and equipment
  • Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs
  • Leading responses for emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs
  • Driving improvements in health and safety policies and procedures
  • Developing installation and commissioning packages for new installation

Typical Education

Must be currently enrolled in a college/university pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Computer Science or other related field

Relevant Experience

  • Strong interpersonal, and written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Able to analyze data in order to present to others without technical background
  • Strong mechanical and hands-on aptitude
  • Candidate must be willing to learn process operation and work in an industrial setting
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel

Required Certifications

Valid driver's license

  • Duration:  May through August 2024, possibility of extending longer
  • Position is typically M - F, 8 am - 5 pm, but must be willing and able to provide flexibility to help out on the Night Shift as needed.  Overtime may be available.
