About our Role

We are looking for a driven and strategic National Business Development Manager to join our team in a permanent, full-time capacity, based in either Sydney or Melbourne.

In this role, you will work to identify new opportunities within an existing list of potential customers, while also staying closely attuned to market and customer movements to uncover fresh business prospects. You’ll consistently generate and follow up on new leads, pursue cold call opportunities, and develop growth strategies across your customer portfolio.

A key focus will be on establishing and nurturing relationships across emerging QSR, corporate accounts, and ingredient customers, ensuring a strong pipeline of future business. You will also play a pivotal role in managing both internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of Simplot’s commercial and overall company strategy.

We are seeking someone who demonstrates a genuine hunger for seeking and winning new business opportunities, someone who thrives on challenge and is passionate about driving growth.

What you will do

  • Consistently seek and develop opportunities within a list of known customers, while identifying and bringing new customers and opportunities to the business
  • Demonstrate exceptional business acumen to ensure all new opportunities are profitable and contribute to overall business targets
  • Develop strategic plans to uncover and win new business
  • Maintain and grow collaborative, mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships with both end users and distributors
  • Sell across Simplot’s broad product categories and pursue new profitable customer acquisitions
  • Provide in-depth market feedback and intelligence to support the strategy and direction of the foodservice channel
  • Actively participate in and add value to relevant category team meetings
  • Manage all internal and external relationships, communications, and interests
  • Generate leads through networking, cold calling, and attending industry events
  • Follow up on incoming leads, develop growth strategies, and progress prospects through the sales funnel

About You

  • Proven ability to seek out and sign new business, with a strong hunger to chase sales and uncover opportunities
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a key account role, ideally within FMCG; foodservice experience is an advantage
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute plans that open doors and drive growth
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand and analyse detailed financial information and assess viable opportunities
  • Confident communicator with excellent negotiation and influencing skills
  • Comfortable cold calling, networking, and digging into opportunities, leveraging existing industry contacts and building rapport quickly
  • Self-starter who is well-planned, structured, and motivated to make things happen autonomously
  • Thrives in a dynamic, national role involving travel, lead generation, and relationship building
  • Enjoys the thrill of the chase, able to uncover opportunities, progress them, and hand over at the right time
  • Collaborative team player who understands the importance of passing leads and insights to the right internal stakeholders
  • Experience with Salesforce, Blueshift, PowerPoint, and other sales tools is an advantage
  • No formal qualifications required, just strong baseline skills in sales, negotiation, and business development
