We now have an opportunity for a Procurement Category Manager to join the global team based at our Head Office in Mentone. Reporting to the Global Procurement Category Leader, you will be responsible for establishing a long term category plan for Indirect spend for Capital Projects (Engineering, Equipment supply and Services), and other assigned categories to drive value across the business.  This will be done in partnership with a range of internal stakeholders and strategies will include: 

 

  • Spend analytics/mapping. 
  • External market analysis. 
  • Vendor management, and  
  • Managing a multi-year project portfolio for mid to high level criticality, mid to high level complexity, and medium to large sized spend. 

 
This is a unique opportunity for a talented individual to join our team. 

What you will do

  • Lead sourcing projects based on the category strategy and on demand projects from your stakeholder group. 
  • Capital project procurement for suppliers of equipment, services and project work. 
  • Support the site engineering teams to develop specifications and go-to-market RFI/RFPs. 
  • This is a hands-on role for a dynamic procurement specialist who can manage their stakeholders through effective relationship building and an ability to also challenge the status quo. 
  • This role has multi-site responsibility, and the challenge will be your skill to deliver change improvements to achieve standardisation nationally.  

About you

  • Ideally a degree qualified Engineer or Project Manager experienced with capital project procurement, you ideally also hold MCIPS membership. 
  • You hold strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on engagement. 
  • Analytically minded, you can demonstrate success by achieving savings and pricing benefits. 
  • You are confident with ERP systems and are a strong user of Excel. 
  • Team player and skilled negotiator who holds the ability to successfully collaborate across all organization levels. 
  • Able to travel to our Simplot factories in Australia and possible international travel in support of Simplot business initiatives. 
  • It is your solid knowledge of best practice procurement and supplier management processes that will ensure your success.
