About our Role

 

Simplot is on a transformational journey focused on delivering value to our customers now and in the future. The Enterprise Data and Analytics (ED&A) Team is responsible for creating and maintaining a modern data and analytics platform to support our company’s dynamic global needs.  In this position, you will contribute to building a complete value chain from source system to a Kimball-modeled Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence (BI) Platform, providing insight across the entire organization.  We are currently looking for an innovative and driven collaborator interested in joining our ED&A team to provide solutions for our Business Partners and help inspire a data-driven culture.

What will you do

 

  • Contribute to the design, development, maintenance, and support of Simplot’s modern Enterprise Data Warehouse 
  • Design, build, and maintain reliable pipelines to move and transform data accurately based on architectural standards & patterns (using ADF, Spark, Databricks, T-SQL, etc.)
  • Develop technical requirements and provide technical guidance/leadership/oversight to IT colleagues and vendors.
  • Data lineage and traceability including implementing measures required by regulatory authorities and Simplot data privacy/use policies.
  • Data quality monitoring and collaboration with data owners/stewards on quality rules, resolutions, etc.
  • Understand Business needs and collaborate with the business to prototype and productionize data models that provides Business insights based on business processes and sourcing data from application databases, manufacturing equipment, IoT sensors, flat files, API’s, etc.
  • Build, test, and deploy new Power BI data models
  • Collaborate with business to create and maintain Analytics reports and ensure visualizations adhere to UX best practices and technical standards
  • Participate in design and code reviews, documentation, and contribute to company-wide standards
  • Cultivate cross-functional collaborative relationships with Subject Matter Experts as well as other departments within the Technology DivisionCommunicate technical and business topics to key Business Stakeholders
  • Manage time across project, support, and enhancement initiatives
  • Build future data and analytics environment for a diverse global enterprise

About you

 

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills and be able to clearly interpret business requirements and processes into efficient code, data models and PowerBI visualizations
  • Extensive experience in logical and physical data models and entity-relationship diagrams in a star schema data warehouse using Kimball principles
  • Experience in Modern Data Warehouse solutions using Azure Stack (Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks)
  • Experience building semantic layers with technologies such as Power BI, DAX and SSAS including connecting, manipulating, enhancing, and testing data sets to and developing measures
  • Experience in Azure DevOps (Work item management, source control and CI/CD Pipelines) and developing business intelligence solutions using SSIS
  • Possesses a growth mind set and eager to learn new technologies/methodologies to contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related field or significant years of relevant works experience to qualify as BI Engineer III
  • Highly Desirable - Experience with Power Platforms” including Power Apps and Power Automate 
  • Experience in query performance tuning and index design and Data Lake Technologies
  • Experience in other ETL Tools and  in scripting and automation of development processes
